Semiconductor Device Improvement Using Atomera MST Technologies and MSTcad Toolset.
March 3, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am PST
Join our webinar to learn about how Atomera’s MSTcad™ toolset can be used to model and optimize transistor performance when integrating Atomera’s Mears Silicon Technology™ (MST) into a semiconductor process. Topics covered include how MST® enhances most transistor characteristics, and how the MSTcad toolset provides sophisticated modeling capabilities for analyzing MST’s dopant blocking capabilities, how users can create sophisticated highly-engineered dopant profiles using MST, and others. Also learn how the MSTcad toolset is tightly integrated with Synopsys’s Sentaurus™ platform and how physical and electrical characteristics are modeled in the Sentaurus Process and Sentaurus Device packages, respectively.
This event presents an overview of how Atomera’s MST can be used for improving transistor device performance, and how MSTcad enables designers to rapidly integrate and optimize this technology in their manufacturing flows.
- First, provide an overview of MST, including how it provides dopant blocking, enables the creation of highly-engineered dopant profiles, how it improves mobility, and how it can be used to improve device reliability.
- Then, we describe the physics behind MST and how these effects must be correctly modeled in any TCAD solution.
- Finally, conclude by providing an overview of the MSTcad toolset, including its integration into Sentaurus, how Atomera has correlated its models with silicon results, how TCAD engineers would use the toolset to optimize their dopant profiles to enhance device performance, and conclude by demonstrating an actual example of how the toolset enabled development of a world-class 5V BCD power switch.

Robert Mears is a recognized pioneer and leading expert in photonics and nano-scale material engineering with more than 30 years experience. In the mid-1980’s, Dr. Mears invented and was first to demonstrate the Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA), a transformative technology for broadband networks. In 2001 Dr. Mears founded Nanovis LLC (the original predecessor company to Atomera) to leverage his insights into the nano-scale engineering of new materials. Dr. Mears has authored or co-authored approximately 250 publications and patents and is an Emeritus Fellow of Pembroke College, Cambridge, England. Dr. Mears holds B.A and M.A. degrees in Physics from University of Oxford and a Ph.D. in Electronics and Computer Science from the University of Southampton.
